Did you know that the largest and heaviest organ in the human body is your skin? It can weigh anywhere from 5-9 pounds for an average adult and houses miles of blood and lymph capillaries and vessels. It can soak up the products you slather on, paint on, spray on, ink in, or inadvertently expose yourself to. The ingredients of these products can often move directly into your bloodstream—both the good stuff and dangerous toxins and chemicals.
Unlike your stomach, your skin has no way of breaking down the products you use. They are literally absorbed into your blood and from there can go anywhere in your body including sensitive organs, inflamed areas, or specific spots needing healing (and the absolute need to avoid toxin exposure).
Once you wake up to the huge load of toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis, you cannot un-see it. I challenge you to inventory everything that you put on or around your body when it comes to the products you use. Don’t stop at make-up, facial products, body lotions, sprays, and oils. What about fingernail polish? What about bug spray? What about sunscreen? What about cologne and other fragrances? Air fresheners? Shampoo? Dish soap? And the list goes on. What if the products you trust and use contain oxybenzone which is linked to altered sperm production and endometriosis? What if they contain parabens, linked to endocrine disruption, breast cancer, skin cancer, and decreased sperm count? What if any of these products contain formaldehyde. You know what this is, right?
